stART - My Big Dinosaur Book

Today we read My Big Dinosaur Book. Cricket has LOVED the dinosaur theme so far this week and really enjoyed the images in this book. There is not really any story, but the images are good and talking points are provided.

Anyway, each dinosaur is on a separate color block in the book. I talked to Cricket about the color blocks and the images. She decided she would like to draw some of her own. She would pick out a drawing she liked, study it, and then attempt to draw it. She started with her "favorite green dinosaur" triceratops

After she completed the first one I had her name the parts of the dinosaur and I labeled them. I thought the stick drawing was pretty great myself, but I'm sure I'm biased.

She really enjoyed it so we ended up doing a bunch more. Here are 2 more of the cuter ones!

If you would like to see how more books are inspiring others go check out stART at A Mommy's Adventures:

  8. Visiting from StArt - Cricket did great. I think my daughter is older, but she still mostly draws squiggles (and that on a good day) :)
